The Little Elephant Festival
is an international festival of children and youth film production. In the festival's competition programme, fiction, animated, and documentary films made by children and young from across the world compete in three age categories: MINI (up to 10 years), MIDI (between 11 and 14 years), and MAXI (between 15 and 19 years). From among all the competing films, an international three-member jury selects the best film in each category, as well as the overall winner that receives the main award of Little Elephant. All shown films are also running for the audience award; additionally, one film from each category will be nominated to compete for the Youth Cinema Network Award, which is given by the international network of children and youth film production festivals from whole Europe - Youth Cinema Network.
The Little Elephant Festival - taking place annually in Maribor - encourages children and youth to create films, enables them to present their work in a cinema, and provides a backdrop for the international exchange of ideas, knowledge, and opinions.
